We welcome all ages of youth musicians, up to 24 years, based on their musical competence.
When may I join? (anytime!)
It is easy to join throughout the year. You may begin rehearsing with us for any of our four concerts: Fall, Holiday, Spring, and Finale.
When and where do you meet?
Fidalgo Youth Symphony rehearses Thursdays in Mount Vernon
Mount Baker Youth Symphony rehearses Mondays in Bellingham
Whidbey Island Youth Symphony rehearses Mondays in Oak Harbor
Salish Youth Symphony rehearses Mondays in Langley
Which group should I play with?
We offer three levels:
Sinfonette: An inviting entry point for beginning musicians who can read music. This ensemble provides a supportive environment to develop foundational skills and prepare for participation in our larger programs. All symphonic instruments are welcome!
Junior Symphony: A dynamic ensemble for musicians with at least two years of instrumental experience. Members explore symphonic arrangements that build essential skills, preparing them for advanced performance opportunities.
Youth Symphony: The premier ensemble of our organization, designed for accomplished musicians up to the age of 24. This group performs advanced symphonic repertoire, offering a challenging and enriching experience that hones artistic and technical excellence.
How should I prepare for an audition?
Be prepared to play a two minute solo and your most advanced scales – one major and one minor. Percussionists play a variety of your most advanced rhythms. There will be brief sight reading as well.
